Biography

Tomonaga Tokuyama / 徳山知永

Tomonaga Tokuyama (B.1984) is a self-taught multimedia artist and programmer. He utilizes and explores the complexity, interactivity, and preciseness of electronic media. His present focus is the relationship between audio, the visual and the space. He has recently collaborated with several musicians to create realtime audio visualizations.

Apart from his individual projects, he is working for Ryoji Ikeda as a visual and web engineer. Tomonaga is also collaborating with architects in the development of architecture specific CAD softwares, to help them understand and design complex structures.

He is currently a resident artist in FABRICA, the Benetton Research Centre on Communication.

  • Audio visual live performances / Kyoto & Tokyo, Japan / 2006-
    • Realtime audio visualization pieces in collaboration with Sora
  • Assistance to Ryoji Ikeda / International / 2005-
  • Architectural collaboration / Kanagawa & Tokyo, Japan / 2006, 2007
    • Designed CAD software for junya.ishigami+associates’ project “KAIT Studio”, which consists of 304 columns, at Kanagawa Institute of Technology
    • Designed CAD software for Kengo Kuma And Associates’ project “Tiffany Ginza Renovation”, which composed of 292 honeycomb glass panels
  • Software development / International / 2007-
    • Developed a Mac OS X widget “Photo Drop” with Kenichi Yoshida. This software was selected as a hot pick on the Apple web site and downloaded more than 50,000 times.
